What is it?

Jenny Craig Diet is purely a weight loss program and one of the most traditional and simple diets. As it costs a lot of money, it is a bit hard for an average person to afford. If you compare this with other popular diet plans, Jenny Craig diet is a more basic traditional diet. This diet plan suggests to take less calories with proper exercise. At the beginning of the program you will be assigned with a ‘weight loss expert’ who can guide you as a real nutrition counselor. He will be capable to guide you in all aspects.

Jenny Craig has countlessweight loss centers throughout the world. If there is a facility near you then you can meet your nutrition consultant face to face. Otherwise, you can contact your nutrition counselor through the phone every week. The main drawback of this diet program is that you have to buy the costly pre-packaged meals. All dieters who follow this diet plan have to continuously purchase these costly meals instead of cooking their own food.

If you like to follow this diet plan you have to eat the pre-packaged meals backed with good exercise. These pre-packaged meals are normal food without all of the calories. More exercise is needed to see the exact result. This diet plan is considered as very simple because this involves taking low calorie meals that are provided and exercising on daily basis to lose weight. Keep in mind, you have to purchase pre-packaged meals on weekly basis.

About the Program

The Jenny Craig Diet program has been serving the people around the globe for the past 20 years. It has around 600 branches in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia and New Zealand.

This is considered as the healthiest and more efficient diet plan when compared to the diet pills. The basic program has not yet been changed since its inception. Jenny Craig provides a fixed diet plan that can help the customers to lose weight easily. Based on the Food Guide Pyramid, this diet plan provides a low calorie diet with balanced nutrition. There will be a personalized communication between trainer and client once in a week. The friendly environment provided by the company helps the customers feel more comfortable with this diet plan.

The first step is that you talk with one of the weight loss consultants either face to face or via phone. The procedures are similar to Weight Watchers Diet.

After the consultation with the nutrition consultant, you will be provided with a low calorie diet plan based on your body type and weight loss goals. According to the instruction from your nutrition consultant, you have to buy the pre-packaged meals. This diet will be a low fat, low carb and high protein plan like other popular diet plans. It is a must to have a talk with your nutrition consultant every week during the period of program. You can also discuss the things to do with weight loss via online forum.

As mentioned earlier, this is the biggest downside to this program; it is very expensive. They require you to buy the expensive pre-packaged meals every week, which cost around $100-$150. You can buy the pre-packaged meals from every Jenny Craig centers.

The plan is geared towards RTE (ready to eat meals) meals and isn’t focused on a strict exercise regeme which would help increase your metabolism.  If you would like to boost your metabolism on the Jenny Craig diet you’ll need to try a circuit training program like this one.

The plan contains a higher amount of lean protein and less trans fatty fats and complex carbohydrates. The ratio of glucose, carbohydrate and fat in this diet plan is around 3:6:1. The pre-packaged meals are balanced because it includes vegetables that are low in calories and high in vitamins, minerals, nutrients and water.

Meal Frequency

It is suggested to eat five or six small meals a day.

Other Notes

Valerie Bertinelli, Kimberly Locke and Kristie Alley are some of the celebrities doing this diet plan.

MyFit Conclusion

This plan is meant for people that have NO idea what to do and are starting from scratch that don’t want to learn themselves.  This program is expensive to maintain and most people yo-yo back to their original starting weight.

We think that everyday lifestyle should be focused on and less about the RTE meals.

Why is this in the worst category?

We think this is one of the worst diets in comparison IF you have a basic understanding and because of the shear cost to maintain.

Were you able to keep the weight off after stopping the Jenny Craig Diet?
